A hotel or tavern operated at this site under a different names since the 19th century, Upper Bull's Head Tavern, The Military and Civic Hotel etc. A new brick building appeared later housing the Occidental Hotel, Westchester, Pioneer Hotel, etc. now called the SoHotel. [1][2][3]
