OWS March over the Brooklyn Bridge April 1 2012

Filmed April 1, 2012. Several hundred people participated in a march over the Brooklyn Bridge to commemorate the October 1, 2011 Occupy Wall Street march that resulted in over 700 people arrested on the Bklyn Bridge roadway, and brought with it massive media attention on the Occupy movement.

Marchers marched from Liberty Plaza a/k/a Zuccotti Park over the Brooklyn Bridge to Cadman Plaza Park. A much smaller feeder march took place from 1 Hanson Place. The video features the Brooklyn Bridge puppet by the People's Puppets puppetry guild, and the musical stylings of saxophonist Carlos Mandelbaum, the OWS Drum circle, and the Occuponics.





Tax Dodgers, Corporate Loopholes & The Occuponics April 14 2012 performance occupy wall st spring

Filmed April 14, 2012. The Tax Dodgers, Corporate Loopholes, and The Occuponics perform a song parody of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" at the Occupy Wall Street Spring Awakening in Central Park. The Tax Dodgers are a performance troupe whose mission is to call out corporations who don't pay their fair share of taxes. The Occuponics, anchored by Paul Stein and Steve Baldwin, play in support of Occupy Wall Street.

The People's Gong at the NYSE March 30 2012 Occupy Wall Street Flash Mob

Filmed March 30, 2012, 4pm. Spring Training is a series of weekly Friday afternoon exercises developed by the Occupy Wall Street Direct Action Work Group to improve communication, coordination, and build team spirit in marches leading up to May Day. The weekly exercises culminate in the People's Gong in front of the New York Stock Exchange, an action designed to raise the voices of the 99% in contrast to the NYSE's closing bell representing the 1%.

This week, protesters were successful in entering wall street despite hastily set up police barricades. Protesters approached Wall Street from multiple entry points and once inside patiently waited until pacers gave the signal to assemble the action, it was very much like a flash mob. Anti-NDAA march March 29 2012 occupy wall st

Filmed March 29, 2012. Three dozen supporters from Occupy Wall Street rallied in support of the NDAA lawsuit opening today in Federal court. Apparently there was supposed to be some sort of press conference with some of the plaintiffs speaking earlier but because there was little, or zero publicity and/or advance notice on it, I was never given the opportunity to record it; and to make this video a bit better. whoever did the PR didn't do a good job at getting the word out. Anyway, here's the occupy wall street march from foley square to union square.





Occupy Town Square Feb 26 2012 @ Tompkins Square Park Occupy Wall St

Filmed February 26, 2012. Occupy Town Square is a travelling pop-up occupy wall street-style "occupation" held on the weekends. It's actually more of an information sharing event. The video, a hodgepodge jumble of clips (sorry this is the best i could do edit-wise considering the soundtrack) tries to document what was in the park that day. There were various activities, teach-ins, performances, tabling, and many banners. The video includes the ows drum circle, people's kitchen workgroup, the people's library workgroup, healthcare for the 99% flipboard, the people staged, parents for occupy wall street, arts and labor workgroup, ows screenprinters coop, the people's puppets puppetry guild, free ben and jerrys ice cream, occupy brooklyn banner, food not bombs, end corporate personhood workgroup, arts and labor workgroup. I was not there at the closing of the festival, and in particular witness any police harassment.

Occupy Wall Street Barricades Taken down and no longer impede access into the park Jan 10 2012

Filmed January 10, 2012, 6.45pm. People gather and celebrate in Liberty Plaza a/k/a Zuccotti Park soon after hearing the news. In the video: activist Paula Z Segal of the National Lawyers Guild tells her side of the story leading to the removal of the barricades; a tent was raised in solidarity, the kitchen serves food, and the People's Library lives once again in the park.





Philip Glass Lou Reed Laurie Anderson Occupy Lincoln Center General Assembly Dec 1 2011

Filmed December 1, 2011, 11.45pm-1am. A protest against Lincoln Center's policy against free speech at the city-owned plaza. It was held on the sidewalk outside due of barricades erected to keep protesters out that evening. The protest was timed to coincide with the last performance of the opera "Satyagraha" or truth-force. With a libretto adapted from the Bhagavad Gita, and sung in Sanskrit, the opera depicts the period of time in Gandhi's life spent in South Africa fighting against that government's unjust laws against Indians. The composer Philip Glass joins in the general assembly quoting from chapter 4, verse 7-8 of the Bhagavad Gita.

The meeting drew many voices including an occupier from oakland, a minister, and an opera singer. Lou Reed, and Laurie Anderson also stop by to express their dismay at the barricades. At the end a hunger strike was declared. the protesters attempted to dialogue with a Lincoln Center official but was ignored.

Candlelight Vigil at Duarte Park outside property owned by Trinity Nov 20 2011 occupy wall st

Filmed November 20, 2011, 8.30pm. After an event at Judson Memorial Church, a candlelight march from Washington Square Park down Sixth Avenue to Duarte Park on Canal St was held followed by a vigil outside a vacant lot owned by Trinity Church.

Occupy Wall Street protesters have appealed to Trinity for permission to occupy the lot -- a cultural events space called "LentSpace" -- ever since the arrest of protesters found trespassing there on November 16, but so far the church has not granted its approval.

The video features "Bella Ciao" performed by elements of Rude Mechanical Orchestra, and the "Occupy Wall Street Song" by Paul Stein, accordion.

Harassed by Lincoln Center security guard Nov 16 2011

November 16, 2011, 9.57pm. I was on a public sidewalk on West 65th st attempting to cover a small protest that was about to happen when a security guard with three strips on his arm rushes up and asks if I have a permit to shoot in the direction of Lincoln Center. At one point he tries swatting my camera away. Susan Bick, Director of Security at Lincoln Center, was also there. I mentioned to her I was on the sidewalk and not on their private property which she understood.

In my haste, unfortunately, I did not mention the FACT that her reputation, and the reputation of Lincoln Center rests on the professionalism of all its staff including its security guards. A person with three stripes on his shoulder and ignorant of the law only serves to tarnish Ms. Bick's reputation.





The Free Speech Pen-itentary at Occupy Wall St Nov 15 2011

November 15, 2011, 5.33pm. After legal back-and-forth at State Supreme Court, Liberty Plaza a/k/a Zuccotti park reopens with new restrictions enforced -- including spur-of-the-moment rules against "camping" put in place by brookfield office properties soon after protests began two months ago. Barricades now surround the perimeter of the park; the police's perverse way of allowing protesters to demonstrate their rights to free speech.

A very low-end private security subcontractor has been hired by Brookfield Office Properties to oversee security and bag searches in the park. The name of the company brookfield declines to name. Already one has been fired for homophobic comments.

TV Reporter hounded by Protesters at Occupy Wall St Nov 15 2011

November 16, 2011, 5.50pm. A television news crew reports from inside the reopened Liberty Square a/k/a Zuccotti Park this evening but are hounded by people shouting "Fox News lie" The reporter cuts short his stay and is escorted out of the park leaving behind the hapless cameraman who continues filming until he too is ousted. Aron Kay "the yippie pieman" is seen giving the finger to the tv camera.

Sean Lennon, his girlfriend Charlotte Kemp Muhl, Rufus Wainwright, Dustin Hamman, and others perform an impromptu cover of "Material Girl" by Madonna ....but not until Josh Fox of the film "Gasland" talks to the crowd about hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking". They dedicate the song to Ben Bernanke, and Hank Paulson.

Seemed they picked this song only because of the verse, "Living in a material world" which they repeat over, and over again.





Sleepover, March, 2-Alarm Fire, Occupy Wall St, Oct 21 2011 (Day 35)

Recorded October 21, 2011. In the video, parents, and kids camp out overnight during a family friendly occupy sleepover event. On another corner of the park, a Verizon solidary march against corporate greed begins circling around zuccotti/liberty park and onto Broadway while the fire department, coincidentally prepares to fight a 2-alarm high-rise fire reported at 120 Broadway, 28th floor across the street from the camp (sources say it is a copier room in the "c section" of the floor?) . It all happens during rush hour in downtown manhattan, and to the beat of the occupy wall street drum circle.

Recorded October 9, October 10, October 11, 2011 (day 23, 24, 25). A snapshot at some of the communal facilities and activities in the Occupy Wall Street encampment at Zuccotti/Liberty Plaza/Liberty Park.

The community space include the People's Library, a kitchen and food prep area, information and outreach desk, a closed off media and press area, a shrine/meditation area, the occupy wall street drum circle, sanitation, garbage disposal, composting and recycling, legal observers, and an arts and crafts area. Part of the arts include building a giant symbolic megaphone out of paper mache, and sewing a giant American flag. A barber, and notary public were spotted in the crowd as well.

Various labor unions joined in the demonstration using Tony Rosenthal's "Five in One" sculpture at St. Andrews Plaza as the rally point. Several helicopters were seen hovering above the crowd.
