Metro Briefing New York: Manhattan Bank Run AbatesBy GREG RETSINASApril 25, 2003, New York Times, p. B8. | ||||
The F.B.I. continued its search yesterday for the fugitive branch manager of a Chinatown bank where panicked depositors withdrew more than $2 million in a three-day bank run. Depositors of the bank, Abacus Federal Savings, continued to show up yesterday to demand their money, but lines were shorter. Bank officials and federal regulators said the bank had enough cash to meet demand. The branch manager, Carol Lim, was dismissed April 13 after working at the bank for 15 years. She has not been charged with a crime but is wanted for questioning in connection with what bank officials say is the embezzlement of $1 million. Copyright 2003 The New York Times Company
